It’s the Supah Bowl!
Lauren Dellipoali
Today marks my second favorite day of the year, Supah Bowl Sunday (yes I added in the Boston accent). Now if my beloved Packers are playing in the game and win it becomes my favorite day of the year, however that’s not what we are here to discuss. The vast majority of us will either be heading out or having people over to enjoy this wonderful, and with that there will be copious amounts of food. So, here are my top five Super Bowl party foods. Ready. Set. Hike!
Dip- Yes dip is my top food. Why you may ask? Well because there are so freaking many that you can never go wrong. There’s the classic onion dip. There’s the 7-layer dip and buffalo chicken dip. You can have queso dip, salsa, guacamole, ranch dip. The possibilities are endless, and a great dip is sure to make people happy. Just don’t forget the chips.
Wings- A classic staple at any Super Bowl party, these babies only add fuel to the fire. With so many flavors to choose from, as well as deciding between boneless and the normal ones (everything is better when boned), everyone is sure to have their favorite and be more than happy when the Wings guy finally arrives.
Hot Dogs- No people, not the baseball game hot dogs. What I’m talking about are pigs in a blanket, or my family’s specialty, a hot dog wrapped in a crescent with cheddar cheese stuffed into the middle of the dog. These puppies, along with the more traditional pigs in a blanket were the highlight of the last Super Bowl party I threw, which was in 2007, the last time the Giants and Pats played and the Giants ruined the Pats perfect season. There will be no hot dogs at this year’s party.
Chips- Not only do these complement the dip, but they can also be consumed plain, and are the best think to throw at another party-goer if they are fans of the other team or are just plain annoying. This may make a decent mess, but I haven’t had a party at my place since 2007 and I have a dog so I chuck and duck often. Chips also come in a variety of shapes, sizes and flavors and are absolute necessitates at any party. (Doritos are a MUST).
Chili- I chewed on this one for a while and decided that it belonged on here. Not only can it be consumed plain, but it can also be used as a topper for chips, can be used to make nachos and can complement the hot dogs. This was also another highlight of the last party I threw, and I must say the chili at the party I was at last year was wicked good so I decided it belonged. Not just make sure the person making it is in a good mood, because if they are like my uncle, the madder they are when they make the chili the hotter it is, and nobody wants third-degree burns on their tongue and roof of their mouth.
Note: Beer is not on this list because it is a beverage not a food. If this posts was about food and beverages beer would be number one.
Enjoy the game everyone! Aaron Hernandez make CT proud!!!!
