Mother’s Cupboard Fish Fry & Diner

If you go to Syracuse University or live in the Syracuse area and have never been to Mother’s Cupboard Fish Fry & Diner you are missing out. This place is really something to see (and smell!). As soon as you walk in and smell wonderful breakfast being cooked you know you are in a comfortable, homey place.
They are famous for two things in particular. The first is a frittata with various meats and vegetables in it. This is no ordinary frittata; it is so big that most people can’t even finish a half order. If you order a full sized one and eat the whole thing, then you get to have your picture on the wall of the diner. Fun fact: the show Man vs. Food came to Mother’s Cupboard and the host won the contest and has a picture in the restaurant! I did not try the frittata, but I saw some of them coming out and they smelled amazing, although they were HUGE!
Their other claim to is their food-wide pancakes. These I did try and let me tell you, I could not even finish half of it. I got the chocolate chip pancakes, which were fluffy and soft and with a lot of chocolate goodness in them. I could only manage a few bites; the oversized portions were out of my league.
I highly recommend going to Mother’s Cupboard Fish Fry & Diner if you want a delicious and hearty breakfast; they have plenty on the menu for everyone. If you can, bring a friend along to share, unless you have Man vs. Food aspirations!
